My weight loss journey

I gained the freshman 50 (not 15) in college, which started my journey as a professional yo-yo dieter. I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars over the last 20 years on the next big “weight loss” thing... gym memberships, at home gym equipment, shakes, pills, supplements, wraps, books, videos... If it was out there to buy, I gave it a shot.

Nothing truly worked for me. Sometimes they would for the short term, but nothing was sustainable and I knew deep down that something was wrong with me and it had to somehow be my fault.

I must be eating too much.

I must be eating the wrong things.

I don’t workout enough.

I must not know how to work out.

It must be genetics.

I’m doomed.

and the worst one…. I hate my body.

I had almost all but decided that this was just the way my body was supposed to look. I was nearing 40 and it was just too hard to lose weight. I probably missed the boat on fixing my weight when I was younger and would just have to suck it up (and in) forever. I would continue to wear loose fitting clothes and hide from the camera (and Scott’s GoPro) forever.

But the truth is that I WAS UNCOMFORTABLE with this decision. I didn't want to settle for a life like that- I WANTED MORE not less out of my life. But how? I had tried everything. What else could I do? Not knowing how to fix a problem you desperately want to fix is a dark place, friends. It causes panic and sadness, but it is a proven motivator as well.

So I joined yet another gym and committed to working out 5 days a week. Even if i didn't see results, I knew it was good for me to be active and so I did it, as planned. I finally kept a promise to myself and that felt amazing!! I saw some positive results, but then plateaued- and on top of that, I have never been so exhausted.

I randomly saw a friend (that also went to my gym) post about the FASTer Way to Fat Loss and her amazing results. And because you've already learned that I buy everything I can to lose weight, It shouldn't surprise you that I signed up for it too!

Within two weeks I had the energy I was hoping for... and more than I ever imagined! People, I thought I had a low metabolism because I've always had low energy. What a unicorn to find out I was normal and actually have high levels of energy now! I found out I could workout less and eat more and start seeing results again. I learned that everything I “thought” I knew from the fitness industry was wrong. I learned that I can FEEL amazing and LOOK amazing with little tweaks to my normal everyday life. I learned that this is sustainable and I learned that this is how to live your best life.

It took me 21 years after gaining my freshman 50 to find the easiest and most sustainable way to melt inches, to gain confidence, to have more energy to live my life, and to simply be HAPPY in my own skin. And after 21 years, I can finally say that I've thrown the yo-yo away, Thanks to the FASTer Way!
