CARB CYCLING

Carb cycling is simply alternating your carbohydrate intake on certain days of the week. It is an effective strategy to boost your body’s fat burning process and turn your body into a fat burner instead of a sugar burner. Cutting out carbs (our body’s primary fuel source), can destroy your thyroid function, leading to hormonal imbalances, mood swings, and a slow metabolism. When you learn how to fuel your body properly, you will have more energy, better sleep patterns, and a sustainable way of eating long term. The FASTer Way To Fat Loss® is NOT a low carb diet, however we do alternate between low and high carb days strategically making this program the best of both worlds.

INTERMITTENT FASTING

Intermittent Fasting is simply an eating pattern. Your body is always in one of two states: fed or fasted. In the fed state (any time your body is digesting food), your body’s insulin levels make burning fat a challenge. However, in the fasted state (8-12 hours after your body finishes digesting), your insulin levels are lower and better able to reach into your fat stores for energy, HGH (human Growth Hormone) levels increase helping aid in fat loss and muscle gain, and the nervous system sends norepinrphrine to the fat cells, which breaks them down into fatty acids to be used for fuel. Besides fat loss, there are loads of other wonderful benefits when your body is in a fasted state (digestive rest).

MACROS & WHOLE FOOD NUTRITION

What do we eat and what’s a Macro?

Whole Food nutrition is simply clean eating. We avoid heavily processed foods and instead, eat foods in their whole form. Typically these foods have ONE ingredient. If it came from the ground (vegetables, fruit, beans, seeds, nuts, etc.) or has a mother (animal protein), you can eat it. Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean you’re cooking meals from scratch all day. There are MANY great frozen options with whole food ingredients to make cooking quick and easy.

The term Macros is short for Macronutrients. Macronutrients are the Carbohydrates, Proteins, and Fats found in the food we eat. We track Macros instead of just calories to make sure your body is being fueled properly with the right amounts of each macro. Having too little of one or over consuming another can prevent you from hitting your fat loss goals. If you’ve ever used a food tracking app, like My Fitness Pal, then you can track a macro. It does all the work for you! Counting calories alone rarely means you’re hitting your nutrient goals. Tracking macros makes sure you do! When you eat whole food nutrition and track macros, you will convert your body from a sugar burner to a fat burner. When that happens, you are able to consume your favorite fun foods and not get off track. It’s one of the main benefits of the FASTer Way lifestyle. It’s flexible and offers results!
